Case study – EWE AG
Future-proof IT, data clouds and fast learning
EWE AG

How EWE AG migrated all employee mobile devices across Germany to the new cloud system in record time and trained the team – simply and at low cost.
EWE AG, based in Oldenburg in Lower Saxony, is an energy provider operating throughout Germany; in addition to electricity and gas, it offers its customers competent service in mobile communications, internet and home automation.
Because the company’s internal IT structure was no longer future-proof, EWE introduced a cloud-based system in two steps: first the employees’ iOS devices were to be migrated and configured, then the team was to be taught how to handle the new technology.
A particular challenge for the migration and training: employees live and work at locations all over Germany.
On-site training with a manual migration would therefore have involved considerable effort – and a not inconsiderable potential for frustration.
The idea?
In short: a clear tutorial that is easily accessible to all employees via a link, without a login. Specifically, sub-tutorials for a total of four apps showing how every employee can configure and migrate their own device themselves – following a procedure whose usability had previously been tested by a pilot group. In even shorter: readyplace.
The impact?
Training was not needed at all: every EWE employee could conveniently start the tutorial online via a link from anywhere, at any time, make all the necessary changes themselves and become familiar with the new technology. And since no employee had to hand over their device, everyone could get on with their actual work without major interruptions, lost time or frustration.
The result?
In this way, EWE AG was able to migrate its internal IT structure to a future-proof setup with the help of its employees and quickly refocus on its core tasks.
