Case study – EWE NETZ
Fibre optics, new processes and quick wins
EWE NETZ

How EWE NETZ taught its service providers a new workflow in record time – saving money and time.
EWE NETZ operates state-of-the-art networks for electricity, natural gas, drinking water and telecommunications in north-west Lower Saxony and parts of Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Because the previous workflow posed a security risk, a new one that met the latest security standards had to be implemented in the shortest possible time. The most important point was uploading the documentation of the work performed. This documentation was, among other things, the basis and prerequisite for the service providers’ invoicing to EWE NETZ.
If the new workflow was not implemented promptly, clearly and above all simply, there was considerable potential for frustration among the external service providers.
The idea?
In short: a clear tutorial that could easily be sent to all service providers as a link in an email. A tutorial that could be forwarded directly to their staff without lengthy explanations or major technical requirements. A tutorial that enabled them to learn, understand and apply the security-compliant upload of the required documentation on their own. In even shorter: readyplace.
The impact?
Within just two weeks of discovering the security gap in the old workflow, all external service providers were given a tutorial on the new procedure. Feedback was reported by email via EWE NETZ to readyplace and optimisations were implemented promptly and centrally. No training was necessary – every employee of the external service providers could access the tutorial online, anywhere, at any time and without a login via a link, and work through the new workflow at their own pace.
The result?
All invoicing and payments could continue almost without delay and the new workflow was adopted quickly. With the help of its service providers, EWE NETZ was soon able to concentrate on its core tasks again: expanding and maintaining the fibre-optic network.
